A Poet's Perspective
—a poem by Marc Carver

A Poet's Perspective

All these poems,
all these years,
if you stood them on top of each other
word on word,
letter on letter,
they would probable be as high as the tower of babel
as high as Jack's beanstalk.
But how many people read them
or feel them
I have no idea,
so why do I continue to write them
well
nobody else can.
