The Poetry of Disaster
—a poem by Afrose Fatima Ahmed

there is a rhythm
in the everyday erosions
of an unfixed world

a melody flowing
through the undamned waters
as they overwhelm levees

a haunting magic
in the black lines
of second growth undergrowth
beginning again
on the blank page
of a clear cut
